Each year we hold an annual review of the top skills that employers would like to see. It is one of the data points we use to ensure that our courses are current and meeting the needs of the market. As part of that outreach process, we review the lists published by various companies and professional associations. To compile our own list that we can then use for course development, we focus on three that we believe are representative of the market. This year we have included LinkedIn, NACE, and a newcomer for us, Emsi.

LinkedIn of course needs no introduction. As probably the #1 social network for business professionals. Surfacing data from their extensive network of professionals and job listings, their research team identified what they believe are the most desired hard and soft skills in 2020

The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) publishes their list each year. NACE is a professional association that connects college career service professionals with recruiting professionals and business solution providers. The NACE staff compiled a list of the key attributes that employers wanted to see on students’ resumes in 2020.

Emsi is a newcomer for us. They are a labor market data company located in Moscow, Idaho. What caught our attention was their report on Resilient Skills – the Survivor Skills That the Class of COVID-19 Should Pursue.
